This is the first newsletter of the 2018-2019 Rotary Year. As your new Club President, I will make every effort to continue the good activities and camaraderie promoted by the members and especially Roark O’Neill, our past president.
This is my fourth Rotary Club. I joined the SF #2 club in 1996 and my major activity was Camp Enterprise, the club’s RYLA weekend for High School Juniors 2002-2004. I then joined the short-lived Golden Gate Rotary Club, and then the Bayview Club. I met both Nine LaDow and Roark O’Neill while at the #2 club. I was attracted to the SOMA Rotary Club’s mission so I joined this club after a number of years dormant in Rotary.
I do want to meet one-on-one with all club members in the near future so you can get to know me better and just as important, that I get to know what is important to you. If you have ideas for additional activities we could include, then let me know.
If you or anyone you know as any interest at all in participating in the Poker Tournament in September please contact me. We have a post here with the particulars. We raised $1,200 last year for bike accessories like helmets and locks.
See you soon!
Jim O’Donnell
2018-2019 SOMA Rotary President
